Everyone has their preferred writing space.  Somewhere they go and get their ideas flowing.  Any dedicated writer has a pad and pen to hand 'cause you never know when inspiration will strike.

When I was younger my mum used to complain about ink stains in my bed.  I couldn't help it.  Just before I went to sleep, the ideas were hits me.  I would stay up all night writing and sometimes... erm... didn't make it to school the next time.

Now, I have to be more responsible as I have bills to pay.  My general writing spot is infront of my PC.  My desk is still littered with traditional notepads and two pens (in case one runs out).

This Saturday, I was travelling to another country to visit my best friend (and head bridesmaid) to do a spot of wedding dress shopping.  Somehow, I am juggling time for writing with planning a wedding and it is improtant to remember to return to the real world from time to time as real life forms the bases of many of our ideas.  On this occasion though, I was travelling by train.  Although my mind was anxiously worrying about whether I would find my pefect dress or not.... my imagination had runaway with werecats and werewolves and I found myself digging out a trusty notebook and by the time the train had pulled in at the station I had practically written an outline for the final chapters of Instinct - just need to find time to type them up now, but at least I know how it ends.

The Bill Bunder Cup is a competition held regularly at my social writers cup.  It is in memory of a previous member of the group.  I never got to meet Bill but his widow's idea is brilliant and everyone tries their hardest to write something brillian.

1st place Bubbles in the Air by Angela.
2nd place A Mark of Independence by Jane.
=3rd place Through the Eyes of a Child by Sandy.
=3rd place The Real Princess by Liliane.

I adapted a 'kissing' scene from Drift.  I didn't really have much time for writing at the moment and it gave me a chance to analyse the scene in the story in more depth.  Although, I really wanted to win... I knew I wouldn't this time.  The annoying this was afterwards when we all revealed whoese writing was whoese, almost eveyone said they almost voted for mine.  Never mine, there is always next time.

The three that won were excellent.  I shan't say which I voted for but two of them are in the top three.  Perhaps I have an eye for talent.

This is the first time that the piece I read hasn't come first place.  I take that as a compliment too, as I feel a well written piece is more easily appreciated and realised if it is read well.

I had a feeling that ending an YA Ubran Fantasy with an element of Romance might get a negative response by not letting the happy couple get together at the end.

After recieving the first run of negative feedback on Drift I realised that the ending was not welcomed by the audience.   The whole story had been a promise of a beautiful romance and then by not delivering at the end, I had short changed my reader like a dodgy builder that doesn't finish the job asked.

I had a little think about it and then I crafted the ending they all desired and quickly got my feedback turned around to five stars again.

I am thinking that now Drift is finished I should try and concerntrate on gettign Hunted finished as it is really close to the end.  The problem is that like Instinct, this story has been written over three PCs so I am going to have to work on transferring it all into the same format before I can even start editing... *sigh*

I managed to get Chapter 2 sorted, proofed and uploaded to www.webook.com for feedback.

THANK YOU!

Firstly, I want to say thank you to everyone who has commented and supported my Drift project on www.WeBook.com.  The motivation has really kept me driven as I don't feel as if I am wasting my time.  Knowing that my story does appeal to others and has an audience has been a real confidence boost.

As usual, my mind is all over the place with my next story.  I shall be concentrating mainly on Wipe Out! (The Sequal).  However, I am also really close to finishing Instinct.

HERE IS A SUMMARY OF WHAT IS COMING UP SOON, THAT MIGHT INTEREST THOSE WHO HAVE ENJOYED DRIFT!

Wipeout!
This will be the squeal and continuation of Drift.  This will be written in the same urban fantasy style with romance for young adults.  I also have plans for a third story to follow called "Swept Away"

Taken!
Shall be a spin off story from Drift, following Jen's struggle after the break-up.  This will be an urban fantasy tale but will be more darker and grittier than Drift.  Jen's life spirals out of control as being dumped causes her to have little self worth.  She finds herself in a dangerous situation that will be the end of her current existence.

 Untitled - Annie's story
This will be a story that follows Annie's struggles with the graphical nightmares that cause her insomnia.  I am planning her dreams to take her into a strange world like Pans Labyrinth or Dark Crystal or Legend, however, there will be some elements of horror and a snake theme.

I haven't come up with a name yet for this story...  suggestion welcome.  I thought of Snake Eyes or Nightmare but they don't  sound right.  What do you think?

I've written the ending and it now live on www.WeBook.com.  I am a bit nervous how it will be recieved by the small following I now have.  I am not sure that this is the ending that they were hoping for but it is necessary for the next book I plan to write in the series.

That's right!  Another book!  I have enjoyed writing about Fern so much that I have ideas for a whole series and have already started coming up with ideas for titles.  I can't wait to get started...

Managed to get another two proofed and uploaded.  It's all starting to come together now...

Yay!  I am so pleased.  Today, after work, I managed to get quite a bit of writing proofed and uploaded to www.WeBook.com.  Three chapters, thats my record this week :)

Being back at work it is hard to find time to work on my writing.  Little and often is better than nothing at all.

Didn't have much time to upload many chapters to www.WeBook.com today, so I only uploaded chapter 10.

Next Tuesday is the Bill Bunder cup at Scriblers so I have been working on a section of Drift that I would like to enter for my competition piece.
