Mum sat in the front with Dave and they chatted all the way home, whilst I melted into the back seat enjoying the rush of warmth that was running through me as I held on to that last gland shared with Sam.  Dave told mum how well behaved I had been and they continued to speak about me as if I couldn't hear them from the back seat.  Finally we arrived home and I was glad to see Dave go.

Once in the house mum clutched her handbag to her chest and told me, "In here could be the cure."

The blossoming romance with my best friend Sam had almost made me forget about my 'little' problem.  I had no control over my powers and Gwyn, who was truly my mum in my heart, had spent the weekend away trying to find a way to save me from myself.

"What do you mean by could be?"  I asked.

She made a hissing noise as she sucked air in through her teeth; "it's theory based."

"Again, explain?"

"Nobody knows for certain.  It's never been tested on a person."

I nodded.

"I spoke with your parents."  she said as she walked into the kitchen and put the kettle on.  She plaecd her handbag on the counted.

"And?"

"If this doesn't work,"  she tapped her handbag, "then they'll step in and help you."

"Why won't they help me now?"  I said annoyed.  First these people had given me up.  Now I had some gentic problem that potential meant I could kill someone.  Yet, they'd only help me as a last resort!
