Scribblers

Picture
The Scribblers is a local social group for writers and meets fortnightly. The diversity of people and range of ages is brilliant.  The one thing we all have in common is our passion for writing.  Everyone is friendly and welcoming and each time we meet we arrange an exercise for the next session.

The stories uploaded to this section of the website have been written for my participation at the Scribblers meetings.

The picture above is of us all having our photo taking by the newspaper to celebrate our Anthology getting published.

The Word
The usual exercise theme will be a 'word'.  The word is always different every time and everyone goes away and writes a 500 word piece using that word in their short story.  It is amazing how many different stories/poems can be created from one word.

Research
To shake it up a bit we sometimes have an exercise which will involve research, such as writing a piece about a certain period of time i.e. pre-World War II.

5 minute piece
This is when everyone attends with three random words.  The words are put in a hat and everyone picks three out.  Then everyone has 5 minutes to write a story using the three words they have suddenly got.

Bill Bunder Cup
Everyone writes an anonymous 1,000 word piece.  Then once all the stories have been handed in they are distributed so everyone reads out someone else's work but don't know whose story they are reading.  Then everyone votes on their favourite.  The winner gets their picture taken and name engraved on the Bill Bun
